Breastfeeding Counseling

Breastfeeding can be a wonderful experience for both mother and baby, but sometimes it takes some assistance to help it go smoothly! Autumn Duckworth is a Certified Lactation Counselor. A complimentary breastfeeding support session is included for all Seattle Doula Partners doula services clients if needed/desired. If you are not already a doula services client, you can also purchase a Breastfeeding Consult a la carte.

Common issues Autumn can help you address include:

– Inverted/flat nipples
– Cracked/dry/sore/blistered nipples
– Engorgement
– Mastitis
– Obstructed/plugged ducts
– Refusal to nurse
– Colic
– Poor infant weight gain
– Concerns about supply
– Formula supplementation
– Planning for return to work
– Pumping questions
– When to seek further assistance

Sessions are usually conducted in your home, but can also be held at another mutually agreed upon location of your choosing. The session normally runs 1.5 – 2 hours.

Cost: $120

As with most of our services, we offer a sliding fee scale for families with limited income. Please contact us for details. Many insurance plans, Health Savings Accounts (HSAs) and Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs) will also cover all or part of breastfeeding counseling services. We will provide you with an itemized receipt you can submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement at your request.
