Shoddy reporting by NYtimes

A huge new study on home birth shows that births attended by certified midwives have just as good outcomes for babies, and fewer complications for mothers. However, the NY Times headline was misleading. It read “Home Births Pose Special Risks.” This was based on the finding that when you include home birth attended by non-certified midwives and other lesser trained attendants, the outcomes are worse at home than at the hospital. Big surprise there! What shoddy reporting. I expect better from the NYT.
